Original Futura House Board. 1968
Human Development Services of Westchester (HDSW) is the product of the 1999 merge of Futura House Foundation and Human Development Services of Port Chester. Futura House, a non-profit corporation, was founded in 1968 by the Women’s Conference, a group of concerned members of the Westchester Ethical Humanist Society, who established housing for seven women who were recovering from mental illness. Human Development Services of Port Chester was organized in 1978 by Reverend Henry Hobbs as a Neighborhood Preservation Company to provide housing for low-income residents of Port Chester, and later provided housing for persons recovering from mental illness.
